China's Health Ministy to intensify supervision over Olympic preparation

China's Health Ministry made the remark at a meeting attended by heads of health departments around the country on 19th June 2008 that it has been planning to conduct more severe supervision and inspection over preparations for the Beijing Olympics in all mainland match cities. By the end of June, local health administrations should carry out thorough inspections on the safety and quality of market water and food and finish the evaluations of food prepared before athletes arrive at the Olympic village.
According to the planning, the ministry will send supervision teams to all hosts of Olympic events, namely Beijing, Qingdao, Tianjian, Qinhuangdao, Shanghai and Shenyang. It also urged all health administrations to maintain 24-hour alert to possible incidents during the Games.
